“Pressing the Pieces Together” – Bench Press Benefit for Autism

Saturday April 14, 2017 – @ Yorktown Mall in Lombard, IL

“Pressing the Pieces Together” is a bench press only contest with the proceeds going to benefit the Autism Society of America.  In addition to entering the contest, we are asking each lifter to set-up an individual fundraising account on on Autism-Society.org with a goal of raising a minimum of $100.  We will email instructions once the fundraising pages are set-up through ASA.

This meet will take place inside Yorktown Center Mall.  It will take place in the lower level of the mall in a big open area right next to Marshalls/HomeGoods and Last Chance.  We suggest parking near H&M and taking the entrance into the mall between H&M and Forever 21.  Have look at the mall map for more information.

Instructions for Online Registration:

• Go to the link below, and click “SIGN UP” below the “Pressing the Pieces Together” description.
• If you have not used our system before, you will need to create an account.
  • MAKE SURE to check to “Join our mailing list” when you create your account as otherwise you will not receive the confirmation email described below (Don’t worry, we will not send you lots of spam emails–you can opt out of our Constant Contact list later if you choose).
• After creating an account select the total that reflects which division(s) you will want to enter:

  • Online Payment Link

• After submitting payment, you should receive an email confirmation–that email will include a link to submit your entry information (i.e. event, division, wt. class, etc.).
• If you do not recieve that email, first try checking your junk mail–if you still do not receive it,  email Eric Stone and he can resend the link.
• Once we have finalized everything with the Autism Society, we will email registered lifters instruction on how to set-up their individual fundraising page.

The 15th Annual Chicago Summer Bash

July 28-29, 2018 at Rich East High School in Park Forest, IL

More Information on Summer Bash 15

The biggest meet of the summer is back for a 15th year!  The APF/AAPF Chicago Summer Bash “15” is scheduled for July 28-29 at Rich East High School in Park Forest, IL (same location as the past few years).  Below are instructions for registration.  Note that here is the schedule for the two days:

• Saturday July 28 – All Bench only Lifters
• Saturday July 28 – Male Powerlifters Open / Master / Submaster / Junior
• Sunday July 29 – Male Powerlifters Teen, All Female Powerlifters

Note the cap for this year is 200 lifters.  We are allowing 30 bench only lifters, and 85 full powerlifters both Saturday and Sunday.  Here are the instructions for registration:

• Go to the link below, and click “SIGN UP” below the APF/AAPF Chicago Summer Bash “15” and select to “SIGN UP” on the correct Enrollment–We have separate sign-ups for Saturday Bench only, Saturday Full Power, and Sunday Full Power.  You will need to make sure to select the correct page.

2XL Intro to Powerlifting:  An APF Sanctioned Event

November 17, 2018 at 2XL Powerlifting in Lombard, IL

This event is part seminar, and part sanctioned powerlifting meet.  It is designed for a new lifter to powerlifting whom has not competed in a meet, or has only competed in 1-2 meets prior.  2XL Powerlifting staff and Team Stone powerlifters will cover everything an aspiring or beginning powerlifter needs to know to compete in a sanctioned powerlifting competition. 2XL and Team Stone includes world-champion powerlifters as well as APF sanctioned powerlifting referees to cover both the technique and strategy of a competing in a powerlifting meet as well as the logisitics and rules of a sanctioned contest.

2XL Staff will start by explaining day-of logsitics of a powerlifting meet, including weigh-ins, scheduling of flights, warm-ups, attempt selection and the flow of a typical meet. The rules, commands, and technique of the squat, bench and deadlift will be explained in a straight forward fashion.

From there, each participant will warm-up and go through how to work some of the competition equipment like a monolift.  Then, being a sanctioned event, each lifter will take (3) official attempts on each lift, but in a more informal environment than a larger, faster-paced competition.  APF-certified referees will give feedback to the lifters on the both on following the rules through the lifts as well as technique/form of each lift.

The lifting will take place on 2XL’s competition quality equipment used in many area APF meets (monolift squat racks, competition benches, competition bars). Thus, lifters will have a chance to practice on some of the equipment they may not usually have access.

This event will be fully sanctioned by the American Powerlifting Federation (APF). All lifters will need to become APF members, and must have a one-peice lifting suit for all lifts.  Lifters can buy their APF membership prior to weigh-ins at the following link:  APF Membership Page

All lifters will need to weigh-in prior to the start of the event at the following times:

• Friday 11/16 @ 10:00 a.m.
• Friday 11/16 @ 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday 11/17 @ 7:30 a.m.

1st Ever APF/AAPF Women’s EmPOWERment Meet

@ 2XL Powerlifting in Lombard, IL

On January 12 of 2019, 2XL will be hosting the first ever Women’s EmPOWERment Meet–a meet run FOR women, BY women.  Thus, this meet will be exclusively staffed by women–referees, scoring table, spotters, etc., and is only open to female competitors.  It is, however, open to any female lifter–veteran or novice.  Special accommodations will be made for female lifters whom do not feel comfortable or do not want to lift in a singlet in front of men for religious or personal reasons (Please email us at stone-ebben@sbcglobal.net).

3rd Annual Joe Atef Squat Challenge

Event:  Squat only

Place:  2XL Powerlifting – 20 Yorktown Convenience Center Lombard, IL 60148

Lifting Session:  Saturday, February 2, 2019 @ 9:00 a.m.

Sanction/Rules:  Sanctioned by the APF/AAPF. Check www.worldpowerliftingcongress.com for information and rulebook.

Weigh-ins:
Friday, February 1 – 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 2 – 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.

Eligibility:  Open to all APF/AAPF members. Lifters may become a member before weighing-in, or otherwise must present their card at weigh-ins. Registration is $30 per card, $40 for both APF and AAPF; half price for high school students.

Entry Fee:  The entry fee is $60. Additional divisions will be charged $30 per division. NO REFUNDS.

Meet T-Shirts:  Official meet t-shirts are available for pre-order for $15.  Only limited numbers of t-shirts will be available at the meet.

Deadline:   The entry deadline is January 12. Late entries will be charged a $20 late fee.

Awards:  Scoring will be done via coefficient in Men’s and Women’s Divisions.  Depending on the entries, additional multipers may be added to compare APF/AAPF and raw/equipped.

Equipment: Raw (belt & wrist wraps only), “Classic” Raw (knee sleeves/wraps included) and Equipped

Sanctions:  APF & AAPF (drug tested)

Divisions:  Teenage, Open, Masters 40-49, Masters 50-59, Masters 60+

Records:  If you have the potential to break an IL State or American Squat record, please contact us before the meet.

“Pressing the Pieces Together” – Bench Press Benefit for Autism

Saturday April 27, 2019 – @ 2XL Powerlifting in Lombard, IL

“Pressing the Pieces Together” is a bench press only contest with the proceeds going to benefit the Autism Society of America.  In addition to entering the contest, we are asking each lifter to set-up an individual fundraising account on on Autism-Society.org with a goal of raising a minimum of $100.  We will email instructions once the fundraising pages are set-up through ASA.

APF Beginners Powerlifting Meet

May 11, 2019 at 2XL Powerlifting in Lombard, IL

This event is part seminar, and part sanctioned powerlifting meet.  It is designed for a new lifter to powerlifting whom has not competed in a meet, or has only competed in 1-2 meets prior.  2XL Powerlifting staff and Team Stone powerlifters will cover everything an aspiring or beginning powerlifter needs to know to compete in a sanctioned powerlifting competition. 2XL and Team Stone includes world-champion powerlifters as well as APF sanctioned powerlifting referees to cover both the technique and strategy of a competing in a powerlifting meet as well as the logisitics and rules of a sanctioned contest.

2XL Staff will start by explaining day-of logsitics of a powerlifting meet, including weigh-ins, scheduling of flights, warm-ups, attempt selection and the flow of a typical meet. The rules, commands, and technique of the squat, bench and deadlift will be explained in a straight forward fashion.

From there, each participant will warm-up and go through how to work some of the competition equipment like a monolift.  Then, being a sanctioned event, each lifter will take (3) official attempts on each lift, but in a more informal environment than a larger, faster-paced competition.  APF-certified referees will give feedback to the lifters on the both on following the rules through the lifts as well as technique/form of each lift.

The lifting will take place on 2XL’s competition quality equipment used in many area APF meets (monolift squat racks, competition benches, competition bars). Thus, lifters will have a chance to practice on some of the equipment they may not usually have access.

This event will be fully sanctioned by the American Powerlifting Federation (APF). All lifters will need to become APF members, and must have a one-peice lifting suit for all lifts.  Lifters can buy their APF membership prior to weigh-ins at the following link:  APF Membership Page

All lifters will need to weigh-in prior to the start of the event at the following times:

• Friday 5/10 @ 10:00 a.m.
• Friday 5/10 @ 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday 5/11 @ 7:00 a.m.

 

***NOTE this event is capped at 35 lifters.  Due to the nature of the event, we cannot allow any lifters beyond that cap.

The biggest meet of the summer is back for a 16th year!  The APF/AAPF Chicago Summer Bash “16” is scheduled for July 26-28 at 2XL Powerlifting.  Below are instructions for registration.  Note that here is the schedule for the three days:

• Friday July 26 @ 12noon – Male Powerlifters Teen / Junior
• Saturday July 26 @ 6p.m. – All Bench only / Deadlift only Lifters
• Saturday July 27 – Male Powerlifters Open / Submaster
• Sunday July 27 – All Female Powerlifters, Male Masters Powerlifters

Note the cap for this year is 200 lifters.  We are allowing 35 teen / junior male powerlifters, 45 bench only / deadlift only lifters, and 60 full powerlifters both Saturday and Sunday.  Here are the instructions for registration:

 

Instructions for Online Registration:

• Go to the link below, and click “SIGN UP” below the APF/AAPF Chicago Summer Bash “16” and select to “SIGN UP” on the correct Enrollment–We have separate sign-ups for Friday Teen/Junior, Friday Bench/Deadlift only, Saturday Full Power, and Sunday Full Power.  You will need to make sure to select the correct page.
• If you have not used our system before, you will need to create an account.
  • You will need to select to Opt-in to “Join our mailing list” when you create your account as otherwise you will not receive the confirmation email described below
    • ***Don’t worry, we will not send you lots of spam emails–you can opt out of our Constant Contact list later if you choose***

  • Online Payment Link

• After submitting payment, you should receive an email confirmation–that email will include a link to submit your entry information (i.e. event, division, wt. class, etc.).
• If you do not recieve that email, first try checking your junk mail–if you still do not receive it,  email Eric Stone and he can resend the link.
• If for some reason after the fact you realize you signed up in the incorrect enrollment (i.e. you accidentally paid for Sunday and are supposed to lift Saturday), email Eric Stone and he can correct it.  We are using these separate enrollments to track the caps for each day, so it is important you select the correct one.

Female Pelvic Floor Restoration for Powerlifting

Saturday June 22:  1:00-5:00 p.m.

Led by Dan Houglum, MSPT & PRI Faculty

Event Flyer

Description:  Physical Therapist Dan Houglum is certified through the Postural Restoration Institute, and will be speaking on the dysfunction of the pelvic floor musculature prevalent in many female strength athletes.  The clinic will include:

• A short lecture on the philosophy of a holistic approach to restoring proper position and function of the pelvis, hips, core and even rib cage, as led by PRI principals
• Explanation on how restoring proper functioning of the bigger surrounding muscles and joints will allow the pelvic floor to be in an optimal position to be properly strengthened
• Demonstration of self-evaluation tools, and suggested exercises to return the body to a more neutral position
• Lab time for participants to practice the exercises with corrections/suggestions on best performance
• Suggestions on how to include/program exercises into overall training program and everyday life

Through the assessment from the clinic, specific exercises will be perscribed to help put the entire body back into a more neutral position.  Participants will have a chance to perform these exercises under Houglum’s watch eye so that they can continue the exercises after the clinic.

Who:  Open to any female strength athlete, and any male coach/trainer who trains female strength athletes

Cost:  $80 Registration – pre-registration is required

Cap:  Clinic is limited to the first 30 registered participants

The WPC Canadian-American Championship is coming to Chicago, USA on October 26-27 as part of the Chicago Strenth Expo at the Pheasant Run Resort Mega Center, leading into the WPO Finals on October 28.

The WPC CanAm’s will be a full Powerlifting meet (squat / bench / deadlift), as well as single lift Bench only and Deadlift only. All age categories will apply, and will include Raw, Classic Raw, Single Ply Equipped, and Multi Ply Equipped.

US Lifters qualify by having placed 1st-3rd at an APF / AAPF National Meet in the past 5 years. If US lifters have not yet done so, they can qualify by placing 1st-3rd at the 2019 APF Nationals June 13-16 in Grand Rapids, MI.

2019 APF Nationals Entry Form

Canadian lifters can qualfiy at CPF Nationals June 22-23 in Waterloo, Ontario. CPF lifters will need to confirm their entry by July 1st with CPF officials. 70 slots will be reserved for CPF lifters (35 lifters for each day).

The meet will be limited to the first 100 lifters each day. Online registation will open up on or around May 1st, 2019.
